Set yourself up for success

October 7, 2020

“What you do everyday is more important that what you do once in a while”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I first read that quote it blew me away – the amount of times I’d skipped the gym all week & tried to ‘catch up’ with a two hour session at the weekend definitely proved this!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel better & see much better results spending 20 minutes exercising daily instead
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having daily habits, ritual, routines – whatever you prefer to call them – is the first foundation of success
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bonus – they help us avoid that introvert-overwhelm! Decision fatigue & overthinking don’t get a look in once you set your daily ‘non-negotiables’
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s how:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 Know why you’re choosing a certain habit – saying you’ll journal every day is great, but to really make sure it become a habit you need to connect deeper to why you’re going to journal first
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Is it so you can track your growth?
• Is it to clear your mind first thing in the morning or last thing at night?
• Is it to improve your mindset?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😎 Don’t overdo it – an epic routine of 15 different things might be great for a few days, but it’s unlikely you’ll maintain it in the long term. Less is more – start with just 3 or 4 & do them well
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧐 Choose wisely – make sure the activities are ‘needle movers’. For me, marketing my business is one of my daily habits, because that’s how I stay visible to my audience. It could be creating & sharing content, emailing my list, posting on Instagram stories, engaging in Facebook groups – they all fall under my ‘marketing’ umbrella, because they all move the needle
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So don’t think you have to go ‘all in’, or that if you only have 5 minutes it’s not worth it – numerous ‘good’ actions add up to create way more than one ‘perfect’ one!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What’s one ‘good’ thing you could incorporate into your day that would set you up for success?
